Rules for authors | Archaeology of Uzbekistan

To submit materials, you must log in to the system or register.
When submitting an article, authors must adhere to the following conditions: If these conditions are not met, the article will be returned to the authors. This material has not been previously published or submitted for review and publication in another journal (or an explanation for this is not provided in the editor's comments).

Accepted formats for article submission: .doc and .rtf.
The acceptable length for articles: the journal accepts articles of no less than 10 pages (font size 12, line spacing 1.0), including an abstract and keywords in Uzbek, Russian, and English, a bibliography, an illustration annotation, and author information.

The number of illustrations and tables included in the article should not exceed 10.

The scientific articles submitted to the journal must be written according to the IMRAD structure.

Articles submitted by authors are checked on anti-plagiarism platforms (https://antiplag.uz/, https://www.antiplagiat.ru/ and others). The article's uniqueness, when checked for plagiarism, must show at least 75-90% originality.

Table titles, figure captions, or image captions should be written below and the source must be clearly indicated. The inclusion of tables, charts, and illustrations in the article serves as a valuable source to enhance the quality of the article.

Each scientific article is accepted for publication after internal and external peer review by experienced specialists and members of the editorial board. Authors are given 2 weeks to correct identified errors and deficiencies. After the 2-week period, if the corrected article is not resubmitted to the journal, the article review process will be halted.

ABSTRACT: The abstract must be informative (reflecting the main content of the work and research results), structured, and concise (within 150–200 words).

Keywords should reflect the main content of the article and cover the following aspects: region, chronology, themes, and special terminology.

The translation of the ABSTRACT, KEYWORDS, and REFERENCES must be accurate. Translations done using Google Translate are not accepted.

ILLUSTRATIONS: Color photographs are accepted in CMYK COLOR image mode. The image mode should be set during scanning or preparation of illustrations.

Illustrations should be saved in raster formats such as .jpg or .tif (without compression).

The photos should be high in contrast.

The resolution should be no less than 300 dpi (dots per inch) per centimeter, but if it is necessary to show fine details in the illustration, the resolution should be higher (at least 600 dpi).

Illustrations embedded in MS Word or Excel files are not accepted.
A list of illustrations and their captions should be provided in a separate file.

LIST OF REFERENCES AND CITATIONS.

In the articles published in the collection, the following system of in-text citations and bibliography formatting should be used. If the submitted materials do not meet these requirements, they will be sent back to the author for revision.

The list of references (bibliography) should be compiled in alphabetical order (author’s full name, title of the work, name(s) of the responsible editor(s) (compiler(s)), place, publisher, year of publication, pages) in the original language. The list of references – the second list, titled "References" – is needed for indexing publications in РИНЦ, SCOPUS and other systems. For transliteration, ISO 9:1995 standard should be used.

The sources (manuscripts) should be placed at the beginning of the list alphabetically. Below, the literature is arranged alphabetically: first, publications in languages using the Cyrillic script, followed by publications using the Latin script. The list should not be numbered.

If citing literature in a language with a non-European script (other than Latin, Cyrillic, or Greek), the following should be specified:

The title of the original (transliteration into Latin characters is required, the original script may be included).
Translation (indicating which part refers to the author’s name, which refers to the title of the article, which refers to the journal or collection, which refers to the publisher, and which refers to the institution under which the work was published, etc.).
Latin transliteration according to the rules adopted for the given language (for Chinese – Pinyin, for Japanese – Romaji, etc.).
If the journal or article already contains an English translation, provide this translation as well, and indicate in which language the work is published (e.g., in Chinese, in Korean, in Georgian, etc.).

For certain letters: Ә ә – Á á; Ө ө – Ó ó; Қ қ – Қ қ; Ң ң – Ṅ ṅ; Х х – Х х; Ҳ ҳ – Ҳ ҳ; Оъ оъ – Оъ оъ; Ү ү – Ú ú; Гʻ ғ – Ғ ғ; ъ ъ – apostrophe ъ.

Citations to the author’s own works should not exceed 25%. Bibliographic references to literature and sources in the text should be given in round brackets: the author’s last name without first name (except for works by authors with the same last name) or the abbreviated title (if the publication does not have an author). Pay attention to formatting in the text and in the bibliography: dashes, hyphens, dots, etc.
